Following the contour

A 38,000 m² coastal concept expressed through angular planes and a long, sinuous edge. The landscape model gives the relationship to the cliff a central role.

Concept

The Seaside Gated Community is a 38,000 m² concept shaped around a dramatic waterfront. An angular architectural composition sits against the steep waterfront, with bright planes facing the water and a lower, curving ribbon following the terrain. The contrast between these forms gives the proposal a strong sectional identity.

The silhouette of the development works with the depth of the coastal edge. Buildings, routes and terraces are read together as part of a larger landscape composition. The proposal explores how a sequence of occupied terraces can give form to the changing levels of the site.

A contemporary reading

Landscape-led masterplanning asks how an extensive programme occupies a sensitive edge. This concept makes that relationship explicit through its profile, giving the changing levels of the site an architectural expression.
