Master Planning

At the water's edge

A 15,000 m² resort conceived along the meeting of forest and lake. Pitched roof sequences and smaller building groups give the waterfront a varied rhythm.

The Lakefront Resort treats the wooded shoreline as the organising setting for hospitality. The masterplan places buildings along the water and into the surrounding landscape, with repeated pitched roofs, generous glazing and terraces facing the lake.

The larger volumes are broken into a legible roofscape, giving the scheme a more domestic cadence when seen from the waterfront. Paths, open lawns and sheltered terraces mediate between the buildings and the wider setting. At 15,000 m² and with an in-progress status, the project explores hospitality at both the scale of a destination and the scale of an individual stay.

A contemporary reading

This edition reads the resort through landscape continuity: the relationship between an extensive programme, a recognisable shoreline and the smaller places where guests encounter the setting directly.
